A TRUE JEWEL, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to charitable work. 

Our purpose is to provide training, support, and services for the empowerment of women who parent children and adults with disabilities so to alleviate the parents’ distress and enhance the parents’ skills for learning, life, and work.

Jill Vassi is the owner and vice president of Exceptional Services Group in Boca Raton, FL.  Jill was a member of the honors program and received her B.A. in Public Relations from Auburn University in 1994.  She is currently pursuing an M.B.A. at Florida Atlantic University through their Executive M.B.A. program.  After getting her B.A. from Auburn, Jill moved to the South Florida area where she had a successful career in direct marketing and advertising.  She also worked as a fundraising marketing and data analyst for a major international non-profit for over 5 years.  During her time at the non-profit, Jill won a prestigious Direct Marketing Association ECHO award for her work on a direct mailing.  Although she was busy raising a family, she found time to start a company, Exceptional Vacations, with her husband, Justin Vassi.  Exceptional Vacations has been providing supervised vacations for individuals with developmental disabilities for over 10 years and serves customers all over the country.  The company has also expanded to include Counseling and Therapeutic services under the new name Exceptional Services Group.  Jill is also a yoga enthusiast and became a registered yoga teacher in 2012 to increase her knowledge of the practice, and to enable her to share the benefits with others.  Jill loves to spend time with her family and travel.  She currently resides in Coconut Creek, FL with her husband, sons and pets. 

Danielle Bennett

Danielle Bennett is originally from Tampa, FL and graduated from Howard W. Blake High School of the Performing Arts where she majored in Chorus.  In 2007, Danielle began her career as a Bank Teller.  She was later
promoted to the position of Client Service Specialist for the bank. In 2011, she graduated with her Bachelor's degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton . Presently, Bennett is working for a private insurance company as a Medicare and Retirement Agent in North Carolina.

Lakisha is a distinguished alumnus of both Florida State University and Palm Beach Atlantic University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology respectively.  Lakisha's educational experience has allowed her to work in the community as a classroom teacher, abstinence educator and currently as a family service coordinator. Lakisha is a Professor for Ministry International Institute.  Lakisha is the primary caregiver for her younger brother who has special needs.

S'rah Yisrael

S'rah Yisrael holds a doctorate of education in educational leadership of higher education. Dr. Yisrael has served as a Florida state assessor for the elderly, support coordinator for the developmentally disabled, college professor, case manager, counselor, and business owner. S'rah is honored to parent three children and a grandchild. Her youngest daughter's name is Jewel.  "Miss Jewel" is differently-abled.

Margaret Livermore is originally from Kingston Jamaica. She lived in the U.K. for 9 years before moving to the USA. She holds a BTEC National Diploma in Business & Finance, a Bachelor’s Degree in Supervision & Management and is currently pursuing an MBA with a concentration in marketing. Margaret currently works as a Marketing & PR Coordinator, has worked in various aspects of customer service for over 15 years and has a passion for service. She has been involved in fundraising activities since high school and continues to volunteer for several organizations including the past student association of her former high school and her local community garden club. 

Valerie Reed-Martin

Valerie Reed-Martin is an experienced business owner, president and manager in the area of social service.  She has successfully collaborated with Florida state area business CEOs and civic leaders to promote self-determination and self-sufficiency of disabled individuals through employment.  Her professional responsibilities have included training individuals with disabilities, their families, service providers, and community/state/county organizations.  Valerie has  represented the Agency for Persons with Disabilities at community/county/state meetings and events.  She has also created and implemented state-approved curriculum for the Medicaid Waiver Support Coordinator Pre-Service Training Program.  Reed-Martin lives in Hillsborough County, Florida and is the mother of two sons.   


 Paige M. Nero-Hails

Paige M. Nero-Hails has ten years of experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities. She began her journey working in a group home; she then went on to become a certified Supported Living Coach, a certified Supported Employment Coach, and a certified Behavior Assistant.  As an administrator, she has played a vital role in ensuring that her agency has a reputation for going over and beyond the call of duty. Reflective of her work ethics, Nero-Hails brings to A True Jewel, Inc. - respect for others and a high level of integrity. She resides in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Kathi Deakyne
Board Member (2014, 2015)

Kathi is from Louisville, Kentucky and has been married to the same man for 44 years - “a miracle!”  She describes her age as “indeterminate but old enough”. Kathi has 2 sons who are the loves of her life. She has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Louisville, a Nursing degree from the University of Kentucky, and a Master of Science degree in Cytogenetics from the University of Louisville. Kathi holds national certification in Neonatal/Pediatric Critical Care.  She is also certified as an ECMO Nurse, a Neonatal/Pediatric Trauma Transport Nurse, and a Neonatal/Pediatric Heart Transplant OR Nurse.  A keynote Speaker for Critical Care Nurses' Association in San Francisco and the University of Louisville Medical School’s Graduating Class, Kathi is also a Founder/Charter Member of the NANN (National Association of Neonatal Nurses).  Kathi has served as an NICU Nurse, NICU Educator, Department Director of NICU, PICU, PEDS at Good Samaritan Hospital, Director of Pediatric Services @ Nurses PRN.  She is now the Founder, President & Director of Clinical Services @ Just for Kids and the Director of Clinical Services @ JFK Group Homes- Community Residential Homes for medically challenged children/young adults. In the midst of these accomplishments, Kathi was a foster parent - for three years - to a medically challenged infant & the baby’s 4 year old sibling.

Jeff Fromknecht, Esq.

Jeff is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Side Project Inc. He has over 10 years of experience working at nonprofit organizations in a variety of direct service and administrative roles. Most recently, Jeff worked as a community partner at United Cerebral Palsy of Pittsburgh, where he developed and evaluated programs designed to help people with disabilities to build social capital. Jeff holds graduate degrees in both social work and law, and is licensed to practice law in the State of Florida.

Dr. Lynn Allison

Dr. Lynn Allison is a pioneer and expert in microenterprise.  Beginning in the Caribbean in 1980 with the formation of Women in Development in Barbados, and continuing throughout Latin America and Florida for the past 30 years, she has developed and operated programs designed to strengthen microbusinessess.  In 1997, Dr. Allison established and is President of International Enterprise Development, Inc. (IED) and in 2000 created the Florida Association for Microenterprise (FLAME).  Dr. Allison was appointed by three Florida Governors to direct statewide microbusiness programs.  Since 2006, she has directed the North West CRA Pompano Beach Microenterprise and Business Loan Fund Program.  In 2010, IED was contracted to design and implement the North West CRA Pompano Beach Small Business Incubator Program and the Job Placement Center. Dr. Allison has worked with governments, universities, private companies and major international funding agencies providing consultation in microenterprise business development, training, technical assistance and employment creation. Dr. Allison is the Vice Mayor of Ocean Ridge and has served as a Commissioner since 2004.  She holds a Masters degree in Social Work Administration from Howard University in Washington, DC and was awarded her Ph.D. by Walden University at Indiana University.


Jennifer Braisted

Jennifer Braisted is a marketing strategist. She specializes in assisting small businesses and non-profits utilize social media to increase their online presence. Jennifer is a recent graduate of Florida Atlantic University where she received her degree in political science and public communication. Currently, she is a marketing associate for a local entrepreneur and self-published author. Before that, she worked as a staffer on Capitol Hill assisting in legislative issues ranging from healthcare and foreign affairs. Jennifer has a passion for aiding organizations that’s goal is to assist those who strive to help others in their community and throughout the world.


Alycia Morrison

Alycia Morrison is a business professional in Palm Beach County. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in marketing and business management from the University of South Florida. She is a member of the USF American Marketing Association and the FAU chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Alycia is also very active in her community and volunteers for many nonprofit organizations. She is deeply associated with C.R.O.S. Ministries Caring Kitchen and Family Promise of South Palm Beach County. She is carrying out her true passion by completing a Masters of Nonprofit Management at Florida Atlantic University.
